Obituary of Carmita Rose Hladik

Carmita Rose (Zambri) Hladik sadly passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 with her family by her side. Her death the result of injuries sustained in a recent motor vehicle accident.

Carmita was born on July 16, 1934 as the loving daughter of the late Zachary and Elizabeth (Caputo) Zambri.

Those familiar with Carmita knew what a gentle and kindhearted soul she was throughout her entire life. She built an amazing family as the matriarch of the Hladik clan.  She enjoyed going to the gym and participating in her fitness classes with “Carm's cronies” and tending to her many, many, many plants and flowers.  She was a devout Catholic serving the Lord as a parishioner at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville.

She is survived by her beautiful family: daughters Elizabeth (Bob) Masker of New Hampshire; Joann Manieri (Eric Unislawski) of Johnstown; her son George (Patti) Hladik of Gloversville; her sister Rose Pelosi (Bob)of Gloversville and her brother in law Salvatore Melita of Johnstown. She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Stephanie, Bobbie, Jessica, Zachary, Jill, Justin and Julie who each brought her so much joy and affectionately referred to her as “Carm-Carm”.   Her legacy will also be carried on through her 10 great grandchildren whom she was so proud of:  Anthony, Benicio, Bruno, Gino, Carmita, Aretee, Maizy, Benny, Nina and Maxon.  She is also survived by her loyal and loving fur baby, Libby Lou.   Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George, who passed away in September 2017, her sister Marie Melita, her grandson Benjamin Manieri and son-in-law Bob Manieri

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carmita’s  honor to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Fulton County Regional Animal Shelter or James A Brennan Animal Shelter.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 5 pm Monday, August 2, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will follow at 5 pm with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. 

Entombment will take place in the spring following construction of a new family mausoleum at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
