Obituary of Laurie Roberts

          Laurie Roberts, 69, of Veterans Drive, Fort Johnson, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday July 17, 2021 with her loving family by her side after her battle with COPD and Emphysema. 

     Laurie was born on August 23, 1951, in Amsterdam, NY to John and Yvonne Harnish.  She attended the former Ft. Johnson School and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

       After graduating from High School Laurie began her 35 year career as a Home Health Aide with her first 15 years at Montgomery County and then retiring with 20 years at CHC of Johnstown in 2011.  She founded the Facebook page “Growing Up in Fort Johnson” and was on the committee for the Village of Fort Johnson that was responsible for researching and updating the names on their Veterans War Memorial.

     Laurie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and is predeceased by her father and mother, John and Yvonne Harnish and her brother Gary Harnish.

   She is survived by the love of her life, John Roberts of Ft. Johnson, NY, her loving family, daughter, Rachel Roberts of Johnstown, NY and her son, Christopher Roberts of Wichita Kansas.  Her grandson, Hunter Roberts of Ft. Johnson and her granddaughter,  Ariana Rzesos of Johnstown, as well as an uncle , several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

     It was Laurie’s wishes that there be no funeral services and in lieu of flowers  donations made to the ASPCA.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
