Obituary of John J. Sheckton

Mr. John J. Sheckton, 89, died peacefully on July 7, 2021 following a brief illness.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 1, 1932 he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Costanzo Scheckton. 

A lifelong area resident, John attended local schools.  He served proudly with the United States Marine Corp. from 1950 until 1954, when he was honorable discharged at the Rank of Sergeant.  John was a parishioner of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.  For over 30 years he was employed at General Electric in Schenectady.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Halkett and Brenda Sheckton; and his granddaughter, Nichole Peters.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan.
