Obituary of Russell William Phillips
Russell "Russ" W. Phillips, 74, of Deerfield Beach, FL passed away on January 4, 2021. Beloved husband of Edward MacDonald for 29 years. In his younger days, Russell enjoyed hunting and fishing. Russell graduated from Perth Central School and was a member of the Honor Society. He also graduated from Plattsburgh State College with a bachelor's degree in education. Russell was a dedicated teacher at Shaker Elementary until moving to Florida where he taught at Miramar Elementary School and River Glades Elementary School. He was a member of Kennyetto Masonic Lodge. After retiring, Russ did community service work at a local hospital, he enjoyed many trips to Vegas, Canada, and returning home to visit family and friends. He often took cruises to the Bahama's where he loved to play the slots at local casinos.
Russell is survived by his brother, Raymond (Judith) Phillips, of Perth, NY, and two nieces, Lisa (Chuck) Phillips-Baker of Perth, NY and Kristel (Ed) Nordby of Perth, NY. He is also survived by two great nieces, Jenelle (Jeff) Peterson of Perth, NY and Sydney Velazquez of Schenectady, NY, and a great nephew, Waylon Peterson.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Perth Cemetery, 1855 County Road 107, Amsterdam, New York, where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
