Obituary of George M. St. Peter
George M. St. Peter, age 81, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 after a brief illness.
He was born March 10, 1940 in Gloversville, the son of George and Alma Finizio St. Peter. He attended the former St. Francis DeSales and Mount Carmel elementary schools and finished his education at Gloversville High School. He worked for various leather mills, including Pan American Tanning and also Grandoe Gloves, but found his calling chauffeuring people for many years. Trips to airports, from Albany to the NYC area, train stations, doctor's appointments or driving your car to Florida was all in a days work for George.
He married the former Jeanette Quant Hohler on November 23, 1985 and they enjoyed their years together socializing with their large extended family, eating out, especially at Harold's Restaurant and going on vacations together. George had an outgoing personality and loved visiting with his many friends, talking about the Yankees, Giants, races at Saratoga and news of the day. George was a devout lifetime member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, attending daily mass for many years. He never let his disability slow him down from having a long and happy life.
George is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; stepchildren Sandra Edwards (David), Timothy Hohler (Kim), Cindy Cole and Anthony Hohler, all of Gloversville and Jerry Hohler (Geoff Leather) of Saratoga Springs; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Angel Salomon (Harold) of Syracuse, Irene Kinsley (Walter) of Inlet Beach, FL. and Yolanda Gifford (David) of Northville; a brother, John St. Peter of Johnstown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a stepson-in-law, Bob Cole Sr. and a sister-in-law, Patti St. Peter.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6pm Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
