Obituary of Clorinda Ann Somers
Clorinda Ann Somers, 69, of Hagaman, NY died peacefully on Saturday, June 12, 2021 with her family by her side. Born on August 5, 1951 in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of Adeline “Dolly” Farina Somers and the late Leslie Somers.
A lifelong area resident, Clorinda was a 1969 graduate the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was later employed by the Big N and Almor Corporation.
Clorinda enjoyed family gatherings and was always happy to make cards and decorate birthday cakes. Aunt Lin loved caring for her nieces and nephews, often entertaining them with arts and crafters projects. Her Sunday school students at St. Stephen’s Church were tasked with creative hands on activities.
In 1970, Clorinda along with her father took a trip to the Island of Jamaica, allowing her to meet her grandparents and extended family. Her love of photography, allowed her to capture many great memories, all of which are organized in her photo albums. Over the years, she became a serious collector of dolls and Swarovski crystal. Always using her artistic eye, she created many wonderful displays. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her mother, Adeline “Dolly” Somers of Hagaman, NY; her brothers, Kenneth and Barbara Somers, Joseph and Claudia L. Somers, and Richard and Maria Somers, all of Amsterdam, NY; her sister-in-law, Claudia M. Somers of Amsterdam, NY; her nieces and nephews, Marisa, Joseph, Steven and Stephanie; and one uncle, Vincent Farina of Schenectady, NY; one great niece, Emma and two great nephews, Ben and Connor; and many beloved cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, Leslie Somers; brother, Leslie Somers; and an infant sister, Mary Josephine.
A special thanks to her sister-in-law, Claudia L. Somers and the many friends and family who were so helpful over the past few years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery in the family plot. A calling hour will precede the Mass beginning at 10a.m. at the church. All are welcome to attend.
