Obituary of Roger A. Francisco
Roger Alan Francisco, 74, passed away March 13, 2021, peacefully at home with his family at his bedside. Roger was born in Amsterdam NY on August 14, 1946. He was predeceased by his Mother, Catherine Sweet Francisco; his father, LaVerne Francisco; and his sister Carol Hoffman. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Brenda Johnson Francisco; two daughters Andrea Haseltine (Thomas) and Rachel Francisco (Craig Kaster); and a son William E. Zimmermann (Chrissie); two granddaughters Brooke Zimmermann and Alexis Haseltine; two grandsons Aidan Haseltine and Shea Crawford; and a brother Phillip Francisco. Many nieces and nephews also held a place in his heart.
Roger grew up working hard on the family dairy farm Blue Bank Farm in Amsterdam, NY. In his 20’s he joined the carpenter union and received his contractor license after which he and his cousin created Francisco Contracting. He was a contractor with Northgate Homes for many years building countless foundations in the Adirondack, Capital and central NY regions.
He relocated to Florida in 1980 where he worked for a trucking company hauling product from Florida to New York. In 1984 he began a career with the City of Largo Public Works Department as project manager. For many years he served as President of the Communication Workers of America union.
Roger retired in 2010 and relocated to Northeast Tennessee where he spent months remodeling his and Brenda’s retirement home.
One of Roger’s lifetime passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He spent hours riding with his fellow motorcyclists. His dream trip was to Sturgis one year. He never tired of telling about his motorcycle adventures.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 12p.m. at the Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville, NY. All are invited to attend.
