Obituary of Josephine Wager
Josephine Wager, 85, of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2021 at River Ridge Living Center. Bon on May 10, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Joesph and Rose Scafidi Natoli.
A lifelong area resident, Josephine was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute. At the age of 50, she went back to school to obtain a degree in business from FMCC. Josephine worked as an accountant for Montgomery County for several years and later worked for Key Bank in Amsterdam as Head Teller.
Josephine was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and was a volunteer for St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was cooking, especially for her grandchildren.
On April 28, 1957 she was united in marriage to John F. Wager. That union was blessed for 49 years until his passing on January 2, 2006. She was also predeceased by her step father, John Vertucci and her sisters, Rose Marie Morreale and Assunta “Sue” Blinsinger.
Survivors include her five sons, John, Michael, Gary, Allan and Doug; six grandchildren; and one great grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant, privately for family and close friends. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, John.
