Obituary of Thomas M. Damiano
Mr. Thomas M. Damiano, 65, of Brookside Avenue, Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 2, 1955 he was the son of the late Anthony and Isabella Marcellino Damiano.
A lifelong area resident, Tom was a 1973 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He was a proud Rugged Ram excelling in Wrestling and Football. He then went on to become a Union Brick Layer for over 45 years with Union #2. He also was the proprietor of Damiano Masonry.
Tom enjoyed life. He especially enjoyed the company of his family, friends and his beloved granddaughters. He liked playing Bocce in his backyard with his father and uncles. Tom was also proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed making his homemade sauce, macaroni and meatballs and sharing it with family and friends. Tom also enjoyed winters in Florida and taking long rides on his Harley. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Isabella Damiano, and his former wife, Rita Damiano.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Damiano, Angela Damiano and Ryan Bergh, Nicole and Christopher Menge; four granddaughters, Emma, Avery, Lucia and Giavanna; one sister, Lisa Kinowski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11a.m. at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche M.S. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Masks are required for all events. Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
