Obituary of Giocondina "Janet" Covias

Mrs. Giocondina “Janet” Covais, 101, formerly of Highland Place, Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021.  Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 30, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Giocondo and Filomena Ginangeli Salmaggi.

 

On April 12, 1942 she was united in marriage to Salvatore A. Covais.  They had a blessed union for 65 years until Sal’s passing on January 26, 2007.  Janet was also predeceased by her siblings, Alba, Ellie, Aurora and Ferris.

 

Janet was a beloved resident of Canajoharie for many years.  She was a homemaker and a parishioner of the former St. Peter’s & Paul’s Roman Catholic Church.  Janet loved cooking, gardening, and entertaining family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Covais Clemons; her sister, Edith Carmine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Services are private.  Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
