Obituary of Stephen A. Koenig
Stephen A. Koenig, age 73, of Gloversville, passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 8, 1948 in Gloversville to the late Jules and Mildred Burick Koenig. He had attended HVCC to study electronics and received technical training in Boston, after which he worked along side his father Jules at the family business, Twin City Waste & Metal. He later worked as an electronic technician at Coleco, Espey Mfg. Corp. and Altech Specialty Steel, among others.
He enjoyed watching college and pro-level football, was an avid reader of Clive Cussler & Steve Berry novels and was fond of WWII & Civil War history.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Robin King Koenig of Gloversville; two sons, Todd Koenig (Stephanie Baird) of Menands and Joseph Koenig (Bridgett Medeiros Slater) of Fonda; three grandchildren, Caiden, Harper and Quinn Koenig; a brother, Mark A. Koenig (Cindy) of California; Sister-in-Laws Sharon Matteson (Charles) of North Carolina, Leona Ellsworth (Keith) of Gloversville, Kathy Johnson (Wayne) of Gloversville, Brother-in-Laws Mike Gifford (Geri Priolo) of Florida, Virgil of Chicago, George and John of Gloversville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
For the safety of family and friends during the pandemic, a private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family at Knesset Israel Cemetery, Gloversville.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the National Kidney Foundation of Central New York, 731 James St; Syracuse, NY 13203.
