Obituary of Marjorie Ella Farina

Marjorie Ella Van Avery Farina, 94, passed on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at home with her loving daughters and kitties by her side.
She was born in Edinburg, NY on April 3, 1927 to Claude and Inez Rhodes Van Avery. She lived most of her adult life in Amsterdam.

A woman of many gifts; she was a talented artist who sold paintings in area galleries and art shows. Marjorie was also an expert horsewoman and a lover of all animals. She was a proud and devoted mother raising twin daughters on her own. A strong and independent woman long before it was the norm.

Marjorie held various careers to support her family. She was known as a creative hairdresser working in Schenectady and Amsterdam salons. She was also employed for a time as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.

She is survived by her two daughters, Francine Grace Farina and Jeannine Faith (Anthony Iarusso) Farina.

Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, as well as her sister Jean Van Avery Selby.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
