Obituary of Patricia A. Masto

Mrs. Patricia A. (Sajta) Masto, 77, of Gloversville, New York, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021 at her daughter’s home after battling a long illness. Pat was born in Amsterdam on September 3, 1943 to the late John P. and Evelyn (Conover) Sajta.

Pat attended local schools and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School with the class of 1961. After graduating, Pat went on to earn her degree in Cosmetology. She opened her own Hair Salon in Broadalbin, where she worked for 15 years. After that time, she was presented with the opportunity to work at Pineview Commons and Wells House in Johnstown, where she spent the remaining 20 years of her career until her retirement.

On December 18, 1971, Pat was united in marriage to Clarence “Chris” Masto. The couple shared 38 wonderful years together until Chris’s passing in 2010. Pat is also preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn, as well as by her siblings, Peter Sajta, Elizabeth Teller, and Timothy Sajta.

In her younger years, Pat greatly enjoyed gardening, and raising her family. Throughout her lifetime, she always enjoyed a game of Bingo, a trip to the Casino, and any opportunity to cook for family and friends. She also loved to pass along her culinary wisdom to her daughter, Valerie.

Pat is survived by her children; Jeffery Ardizzone, Christopher (Amy) Masto, and Valerie Masto; her dear friends, Charlotte Brunetto, Glenna Simmons, Pat Stewart, Joan Silvernail, and Linda Stangle; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 4 o’clock until 6 o’clock in the evening at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11:30 in the morning at the Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam with Fr. Jeffrey L’Arche presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Johnson, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
