Obituary of Josephine A. Uhlinger
Mrs. Josephine A. DeCicco Uhlinger, 80, of Ballston Spa, NY, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 26, 2021 at her home.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 13, 1940, the daughter of the late John and Mary Bombardatore DeCicco. She was raised in Amsterdam, and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Josephine was employed as a Special Education Instructor’s Aide at BOCES in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Josephine was a devout catholic. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Rosary Group and the The St. Philomena Society. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus "Columbiettes" and held many offices over the years. She was a communicant over the years of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa, NY. She was a charter member of the Ballston Spa Craft Club.
She married John G. Uhlinger on June 28, 1959. He passed away on February 13, 2013.
Mrs. Uhlinger enjoyed caring for others especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving daughters, MaryBeth (John) Paretta of South Carolina, Diane Hrebinczak and Cynthia Angel of Ballston Spa, NY. Her cherished grandchildren, Theresa J. (Don) Parisi of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward T. (Bridget) Loya III of Ballston Spa, NY, Samantha J.(Brandon) Haskell of Ballston Spa, NY. Taylor and Abigayle Angel of South Carolina. Great-grandchildren, Rosalee Smith, Edward Thomas Loya IV and Rowena Loya of Ballston Spa, NY. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Josephine was predeceased recently by her grandson, Johnathan Smith on February 20, 2020, her son-in-law, Stephen Hrebinczak on July 4, 2017, and siblings, Santo "Chaz" DeCicco and Nancy Rusilas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday March 30, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. When attending the Funeral Mass or calling hours you are required to wear a mask and observe NYS guidelines for social distancing due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s School of Ballston Spa, 40 Thompson St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
