Obituary of Sandra E. Hugo
Sandra “Sandy” E. Barber Hugo R.N., 73, of Hagaman, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Schenectady, NY on February 26, 1947 a daughter of the late Kenneth and Antoinette Corbo Barber. Sandy was a graduate of Mohonasen High School in Schenectady. She attended Nursing School and received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Fulton Montgomery Community College and became a Registered Nurse.
She was employed for over 30 years at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam working in the ICU, and previously in the Emergency Room at the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and was a dedicated and caring nurse. Sandy was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
She married Donald F. Hugo on February 28, 2001. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her four dear children, David (Melissa) Bush of Broadalbin, NY, Michele Kiuber of Amsterdam, NY, Kenneth (MaryJo) Bush of Johnstown, NY and Stephanie (James) Bartone of Ft. Johnson, NY. Cherished grandchildren, Brandon (Hannah) Bush, Brooke Bush, Timothy "TJ" and Nicholas Hawker, Peyton, Jocelyn and Makenna Bush, Austin and Alec Bartone. One sister, Diann (Al) Englehart. Brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Danielle) Hugo, Barbara (Ronald) Barber and Margaret Ann Castle. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Barber Jr.
Sandy had a laugh that was contiguous, a witty sense of humor and a heart of gold. She loved to be around people, especially her children and her “grand critters”, whom she excitedly numbered 1 through 9 and they each knew that number. She always found fun in life, and created memories for all to remember. She enjoyed her time being on and around the water, while up to the lake or traveling to the ocean. Sandy & Don were “snowbirds” as they spent the colder months down in Florida, enjoying the nicer weather. She was delighted when she could find a good deal, a good steak and a good joke.
