Obituary of John J. Mancini
Mr. John J. Mancini, 77, of Amsterdam, passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
He was born January 17, 1944 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Richard T. and Ann Zeppieri Mancini. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and a 1961 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Mancini served in the Air National Guard from 1964 to 1970. .
John was employed first at the Eddy Brush Company in Amsterdam. He was employed as a Mail Handler for the US Postal Service in Albany retiring after 20 years. He also worked at DePaula Chevrolet as a car transport specialist.
He was a communicant of Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post #701 in Amsterdam and the Bigelow Weavers Club. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball in various leagues in Amsterdam. John also was an avid Mets, Jets and NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family and friends.
He married Gloria Patrenicola Mancini on June 7, 1975. In addition to his loving wife of almost 45 years he is survived by a loving daughter, Deanna Mancini of Amsterdam, NY. Cherished grandsons, Andrew and Justin Brinkerhoff. One brother, Michael (Irene) Mancini of Amsterdam. A sister-in-law, Jean Patrenicola of Amsterdam. Aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren and cousins.
John was predeceased by his brothers, Richard M. (Rosemarie) Mancini USN, Vietnam and Robert Mancini of Las Vegas. He was also predeceased by a nephew, Robert Rodriguez, his mother-in-law, Rose Reali and recently a sister-in-law, Carol Carerro on February 5, 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 27, 2021 at 11:00AM at Historic St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey M. L'Arche M.S. as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
