Obituary of Catherine Paton
Mrs. Catherine "Kay" Paton, 94, formerly of Tribes Hill died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at St Mary's Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born on June 15, 1926 to Mr. Dominick Bursese and Mrs. Edith DiGennaro Bursese, she attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of St Mary's Institute. Kay went on attend St Mary's Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Human Services from the State University of New York at Albany. She later received her Nursing Home Administrators License from New York State. Kay was a charitable and devoted member of the community; she was a Past President of St Mary's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, an active member of the local Girl Scouts, Administrator of the then Montgomery County Infirmary, and served on the Board of Directors for Montgomery County Office of the Aging as well as the Horace J. Inman Center. Kay had a passion for painting and dancing; she loved music, especially live music. More than anything Kay loved being with her family.
On May 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to Mr. William H. Paton, they remained lovingly married until his passing on February 21, 1990.
In addition to her husband Kay was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Zina Montana of Albany, and Rachel Minisci of Cobleskill as well as her son Donald J. Paton of Amsterdam.
Her loving family includes her daughters Kathleen Purtell of Hagaman and Patricia Booth of South Carolina, and son William "Billy" Paton Jr. of Amsterdam. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Kay will be missed by all who knew and loved her, and remembered for her unwavering devotion to her friends, family, and community.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
