Obituary of Joyce A. Fallows

Joyce A. Fallows, 92, formerly of Stewart Street, Amsterdam, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 3, 1928 she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Wood Hartnoll.

 

A lifelong area resident, Joyce was a 1945 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. On May 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to Lt. Col Lionel H. Fallows.  That union was blessed with 68 wonderful years until his passing on May 15, 2017.  She was also predeceased by her son Alan R. Fallows in 1962.

 

Joyce was a homemaker all of her life, taking great pride in her home.  She was a life member of the Century Club and a devoted member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church.  She along with her husband Lionel will be remembered for being pillars of the Amsterdam community, dedicated to the community in several different capacities and preserving history.

 

Survivors include her five children, Linda G. Fisher and her husband Gregory, Thomas G. Fallows and his wife Charlene, Diane E. Nickloy and her husband Dan, Deborah A. Yeara and her husband John, Karen L. Hubbard and her husband Rick; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A Service of Remembrance will take place at a later date.  Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Fairview Cemetery, 272 Steadwell Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
