Obituary of Howard J. Ehmke, Jr.
Howard J. Ehmke, Jr; age 90, of Gloversville, died Monday, January 25, 2021 at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Gloversville.
He was born September 16, 1930 in Amsterdam NY, the son of the late Howard and Marilyn Ehmke. A Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War he served as a flight engineer in the US Air Force as a B-29 Crew Member. After his service in the Air Force Howard married and moved to CT with his wife where they would raise both their children together. In his spare time, Howard enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes, boating and fishing. Later in life, Howard would move back to his home state of NY, during which he would become a member of the Moose club in Gloversville.
Howard is survived by two sons, Barry of Ehmke of Denver, CO and Todd B. Ehmke and wife Pam of Torrington, CT; three grandchildren, Eric Ehmke and wife Chelsea of Burlin CT, Ian Ehmke of Torrington CT and Evan Ehmke of Torrington CT; and a sister, Eleanor Dufel of Northville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Bailey Ehmke and a sister, Dorothy Seyfried.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Home Care Raechel Fisher for her love and compassion.
Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, services will be privately held at the safety and convenience of the family.
Interment will take place at the Bantam Cemetery, Bantam CT.
