Obituary of Jean F. Tarris

Mrs. Jean F. Tarris, age 81, of Mayfield, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs.

She was born September 24, 1939 in Williamstown, NY the daughter of the late James and Daisy Finnerty.  She graduated from Camden High School and later worked at Griffiss Air Force Base where she met her husband George.  They moved to Mayfield in 1963 and she was employed for 27 years as a Secretary for the Mayfield Central School District, retiring in 2001.

In her free time, Jean enjoyed ballroom dancing, going to orchestra and theater performances, traveling around the world with family, and gardening.  Jean was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Thomas Tarris (Richelle) of Charlotte, NC and Brian Tarris (Susanne) of Russell, MA; four grandchildren, Ranaye Prevatt (Hunter) of Tokyo, Brandon Tarris of Guam, Crystal Tarris of Westfield, MA, and Jade Tarris of North Adams, MA; a great-grandchild Kai Prevatt of Tokyo; her siblings, Jim, Patricia, Shirley, and Beatrice; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

In addition to both of her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband George Tarris and her three siblings, Gary, Janet and Kate.

In accordance with Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private to the family at a time of their convenience.

Interment will take place in the spring at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
