Obituary of Helen L. LaVallee
Helen L. LaVallee, age 91, of Johnstown, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 21, 2021 at Wells Nursing Home, in the loving care of their wonderful staff and her family.
She was born April 12, 1929 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Edmund and Madeline Baisner Walker. Helen provided childcare for many local families throughout her lifetime. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, who referred to her as the “Best Mom and Gramma ever!” She loved to gather with family and friends to play games, cards, and especially bingo. Frequently she took bus trips to the Casino with her friends. Helen brought her fun spirited personality and quick wit wherever she went in life. Ending up as a resident at the Wells House, she attended every activity provided and made many friends with both staff and residents. Helen will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Helen is now an angel to her children, survived by three daughters, Diane Rudolph of Cape Coral, FL; Antoinette Kearney of Saratoga Springs, NY and Robin Coalter (Bob) of Johnstown NY; daughter-in-law, Joanne Lavallee; three grandchildren, Etienne LaVallee (Maia), Monique Dutcher (Will) and Claire Kearney (fiance' Chris Amorosi); seven beautiful great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond LaVallee; her son, John LaVallee; grandsons Todd and Darren Rudolph; siblings June Costantino, William Walker, George Walker, Patricia Lee and Doris Clemons.
As a result of the current Covid-19 Pandemic, a private funeral service will be held at the safety and convenience of the family at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
