Obituary of Lothar F. Herrlett

Lothar F. Herrlett, age 86, of Gloversville, passed away Saturday evening, January 16, 2021 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

He was born May 22, 1934 in Dortmund, Germany, the son of the late Arthur and Irmgard Goglin Herrlett. He came to this country in 1954 and 5 short years later he started his own Business Herrl Woodcraft where he was owner and operator for 60 years until his retirement in 2017 to take care of his loving wife Johann.

Lothar enjoyed music in which he was in a band, The Continentals.  He enjoyed taking his motorcycle out and riding around the lake.  He loved his family immensely and enjoyed having family gatherings. He enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, in fact, he would go every Thursday to dinner for the last 10 Year to Sam's. He loved traveling with his family and took them to Europe many times as well as traveling with family around the United States. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, a Life Member of the Concordia Club and a former member of the Johnstown Moose.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Johann of 53 years. They never left each others side.

Lothar is survived by four children, Rita Bravo of Gloversville, John and wife Wendy Herrlett of Gloversville, Lothar and wife Kathy Herrlett of Rotterdam and Joann and husband Jack Fuentes of Cortland Manor, NY; five grandchildren, Laiken, Eden, Nicholas, Andrew and Anthony; three great-grandchildren, Laela, Jordyn and Journi; two sisters and a brother, Rita Berger of Germany, Karin Ignaszewski of Gloversville and Klaus Herrlett of Germany; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, sister, Doris Jeske.

As a result of the current Covid-19 Pandemic, a private visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the safety and convenience of the family at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. 

Interment will take place in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd; Gloversville, NY 12078.
