Obituary of Louis J. Marsicano
Louis J. Marsicano, age 60, of Amsterdam passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021.
He was born on July 4, 1960 to Gennaro and Mafalda (Constantino) Marsicano. Louis attended Amsterdam Schools, and he graduated from Amsterdam High School. He went on to Fulton Montgomery Community College to earn an Associate’s degree, and graduated from the State University of NY at Oneonta in 1999 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.
Louis was the proprietor of Mohawk Valley Fruit and Produce in his youth. He also worked for Golub Corporation and, most recently, the State of New York. He took great pride in his Italian heritage. He loved to shop for food, cook, and eat. He especially loved to talk on the phone. He enjoyed reminiscing about the past and planning his future. Louis was especially known for his sense of humor and perseverance. He never gave up. Family was so important to him. He will always be remembered affectionately.
In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by a brother, Gennaro Michael Marsicano. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Rosemarie and Phillip Peugh of Amsterdam. He leaves behind two nieces and their husbands, Kelly and Timothy Forte, and Kimberly and Eric Meyer of Amsterdam. He also leaves behind great nieces and nephews, Alexandra and Victoria Forte, and Mason and Benjamin Meyer. An uncle, Ralph Tambasco of Indianapolis, IN and several cousins also survive.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. A Memorial mass will be scheduled at a later date. At Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Louis’ name to the Amsterdam Lions Club, PO Box 2, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
