Obituary of Linda L. Sweet

Linda L. Sweet, 68, passed away on December 30, 2020, peacefully at home with her loving family by her side after battling a long illness.

Linda was born in Midwest City, Oklahoma to Lee Roy and Maxine White on January 28, 1952.   Linda graduated from Choctaw High School in 1970. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, James A. (JA) Sweet of Amsterdam, NY; her brother in law, Gregory S. Sweet (Deborah) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter and caregiver, Cheryl Lynn Sweet-Edwards (Matthew) of Amsterdam, NY; her son, Jason Wayne Sweet (Michelle) of Meeker, Oklahoma; her daughter, Kathleen Michelle James (Jesse) of Junction City, Oregon; her brothers, Ron White of Midwest City, Oklahoma and Troy White of Ada, Oklahoma; and her sister, Beverly Fine of Shawnee, Oklahoma. In addition, she is survived by her nine grandchildren, Cameron, Ashley, Matthew, Caycee, Chris, Morgan, Leah, Cady, and J.J.; three great grandchildren, Trinity, Jesse, and Stetson; her grand pup and loving companion, Logan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her parents, Lee Roy and Maxine White; by her brother, Wendell White; and her sisters, Joyce Martin and Teresa Smith. 

Linda spent the last 48 years in the trucking industry.  She was a true trailblazer, being one of a few female truck drivers in the 1970’s.  For the last 40 years, Linda had been working alongside her husband, James (JA) Sweet, as the book keeper and secretary of both JA Sweet Trucking, Inc. and JA Sweet Bulk Service.

Linda had a compassionate heart and a desire to help others. Linda had a passion for cooking her amazing Southern Dishes and other delicious homemade meals, painting, sewing, crocheting, and making homemade crafts for her friends and family.  Also, Linda had a huge passion for animals and animal rights.  

Linda was happiest when surrounded by family and enjoying time together.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.   

A private viewing and service of remembrance will be held at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home by invitation only.
