Obituary of Anne M. Beleckas

Anne M. Beleckas, 95, of Hagaman passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020. Born in Amsterdam on November 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mikalina (Kolakauskas) Tamoliunas.

Survived by her loving daughters Irene Beleckas of Hagaman and Regina (Brian) Kelly of Cranford, New Jersey. Survived also by her brother Casimir Tamoliunas of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, her grandchildren Siobhán Kelly and Renée Kelly, and by her nieces Catherine Danyla and Mary Gold, and by a grandniece Roxanne Modafferi.

Besides her parents, Anne is predeceased by her husband Anthony Beleckas, to whom she was united in marriage on August 22, 1954. Anthony passed away on September 6, 1984. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Helen Zytkowski and Vincenta Danyla, a brother Joseph Tamoliunas, nephews Casimir Danyla and Francis Danyla, and niece Kathleen Generali.

Anne was a gentle, simple soul who enjoyed people and accepted them as they were. Her strong Catholic faith sustained her through many challenges and difficulties in her life. Anne was talented at knitting and crocheting. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing and playing the accordion and piano. She worked at area mills and retired from Almor Company in Amsterdam.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Edward Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility and also the Community Hospice for their wonderful care of Anne in her final months. Anne will be greatly missed.

Private calling hours will take place on Thursday, December 31, 2020, from 10 to 11 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 51 N. Pawling Street, Hagaman, with Fr. Jeffrey M. L’Arche the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Casimir’s Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required at all services.
