Obituary of Yvette M. Jevitt

       Yvette M. Jevitt, 51, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday December 22, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam after battling the Covid 19 virus.  

       Born in Amsterdam on September 9, 1969 a daughter of the late John and Helen Gatchell Jevitt.  She was a lifelong  Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. 

     Yvette was a resident of Liberty Arc in Amsterdam.  She worked at Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co. and Liberty ARC.  Yvette was very active in the Special Olympics where she competed and won many medals throughout her life.   She enjoyed listening to music and watching classic TV shows.   Above all Yvette enjoyed being with her family. 

      She was of the Roman Catholic Faith and was a communicant of St. Stephen’s and St. Stanislaus Churches in Amsterdam.

      She is survived by her dear sister and brothers, Felicia (Jeff Schneider) Jevitt of Ohio, Joseph (Cindy) Gatchell of Amsterdam, and James (Deb) Jevitt of Arizona.  Her beloved nieces and nephews, David Gatchell, Amanda Lester,  Morgan Olson, Jeremy Schneider and Justin Jevitt.   Great-nieces and nephews, Haley Gatchell and Nicholas Korona.   Yvette also leaves behind her housemates and her special friend, Karen Pasquarelli. 

       Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, services will not be held at this time.   Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam ,NY.    In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Yvette’s memory to the Special Olympics, 1133 19^th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20036-3604. (Northeast Region).   Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
