Dear Michelle, Harold, and family,
I'm so sorry to hear that your dad has passed. We grew up with your mom and dad around all the time. I think my mom, Connie Jeffers, went to college with your mom. You dad was always around high school with a camera. He always had that kind smile for everyone. I have sweet memories of them both.

Sincere condolences to Harold's family & especially our dear friend, Denise. Having known both Harold and Denise for years (Jack worked with Harold in the 1960's & I have known Denise since childhood), we are so glad they were able to spend several happy years together. Anyone who knew them could see their compatibility, in "dressing to the nines", in traveling, sharing a laugh, & just thoroughly enjoying each other's company. Harold was a wonderful, accomplished man who will be missed by all who knew him!

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Laird. He was such a wonderful, kind man. My parents Grant and Gladys Prentice taught Sunday School at Fremont Methodist Church and Michelle was in their class. We all loved Michelle. She was a sweet little girl then and I have never forgotten her. Michelle and Harold, Jr. you can be so proud of your dad. He did so many wonderful and creative things in his life and he just beamed when he spoke of his children. I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my heart and my prayers.Ericia Prentice-Mercer

Over the years we hunted, traveled, went to sporting events, ( he really liked boxing ), since we left the Leader Herald and went our separate ways, we still keep in touch. Michelle and Harold, Jr......What a sad day indeed to learn about the passing of your dad. He was a wonderful person who will be missed by alot of people. It is comforting to know that he and your mother are together again! It was always so obvious how much he loved her. We just had our 50th wedding anniversary on 12/19/20. Your father photographed that event and many years later he did the same for our daughter, Grace. He was a master with a camera! With Ken teaching at Park Terrace, our paths crossed many times at faculty parties and school functions. They will be happily together once again in heaven while leaving a big void here on earth. Be strong at this difficult time and keep them alive in your hearts! We send our condolences.

Harold Laird did my wedding back in 1995 and also drove us in his Jaguar. We had the time of our lives and am so heart broken that he has passed. He wasn't just a true professional and the best at his trade, he was down to earth, fabulous sense of humor and the kindest man I have ever met. God bless you Harold and god has a saint in heaven. Rest in peace my friend.

Harold and Michelle, I just found out of the passing of your dad. My heart goes out to you and your families. It said to share a memory. I have many. Probably one of the best ones I have was him bowling with my Dad on the Sunday night 12 League. Your Dad and Eddie Donnan would gamble with me on the Machine that (Jim Handy) the owner at the time and If it paid out they would give me the money...My Dad always wondered where I got all that money from and you Dad and Eddie wanted me to keep a secret. I baby sat for you Harold after your sister went to college. It seems that he and your Mom were always apart of our lives. Weddings he did several photos for our family and senior photos. About 5 years ago not sure on when Iit was on a plane heading to Texas to see my oldest daughter, and I heard someone say Hi stranger. It was your Dad and we both chuckled after talking for a moment and commented that its a small world. He was a amazing and a remarkable man. Such a kind heart he will certainly be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. This is a very difficult time in the world that we can not even have a celebration of life. He is one man that definitely deserved it.

When the original A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church burned a contingent of parishioners attended Fremont Methodist Church I was a teen or a little younger. After the new church was built Harold and Audrey stayed with us and I am grateful for that. They were a special couple with energy and faith abounding' Later in life I took up photography myself as a paying hobby. I started taking freelance pictures for the Leader Herald. Harold was there to mentor and help me, He let me watch him in the dark room and made decisions about which picture would be used.
My wife volunteered at Kingsboro school where she met Audrey and they became friends for along time.
I shall miss both of them as will my wife. The last time I saw him was at Big Mike's waiting for his diner to come out.
My sympathies to his wonderful children. They had a real local icon as a father.

Michelle, Harold and Family,
It feels like I knew your dad (and mom) my entire life and in so many ways.
He graduated with my brother (John Lasher), my sister (Cathy Lasher Purdy) worked with Audrey at the Gloversville Day Nursery and they remained friends for all the years that followed.
As for me - I had the privilege, fun, and professional opportunity to work with your dad at the Leader-Herald, first when I was advertising director and then as Publisher.
There are no words to give him the accolades the he earned by the way he lived his life. But you know that, first hand. He loved his family, the beautiful home in Jackson Summit and life in general.
How proud your mom and dad were of all of you, they beamed whenever they spoke about you.
Please accept my sincerest sympathies.
I will still always smile when I think or speak of him.

Harold was a very special man who was loved by many, including us! He photographed our wedding when he first started and then our daughter Jenn’s wedding many years later. We had many laughs with him about how Jenn’s pictures were so much better. We were one of his first customers. After joking together every time we ran into each other, Harold showed up with a gorgeous framed portrait of my daughter and her husband! I’ll always remember that day hearing his words and his laughter. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. ❤️❤️❤️
