Obituary of Oscar L. Porath

       Mr. Oscar L Porath, 81, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday December 10, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

     Born on February 15, 1939 a son of the late Arthur Porath and Irene Boyd. 

     Oscar attended local schools in Amsterdam.   He was self-employed and worked in construction and roofing.  He most recently worked at the PNA in Amsterdam in maintenance where he was alos a lifeling member.   He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends especially “Ziggy”.

     He married Lynda J. Covey Porath on November 13, 1960.  She passed away on February 22, 2011.   

     Oscar leaves behind his daughter, Cindy (Don) Vitus of Amsterdam. Granddaughter, Jessica Lynn (Jon) Marotta,.  Great-grandchildren, Dakotah Jeremy Vitus, Kayelani Marquardt, and Sierra Tubbs.  A great-grandson,  Nico Marotta and great-great-granddaughter, Desirae Vitus.   A brother, Robert Porath.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Rolinda Porath, a son Kevin Porath and most recently by his only grandson DJ Vitus on  December 5, 2020 and brothers and sisters. 

     Due to restrictions on social gatherings all services will be private. The family requests that no flowers be delivered.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY.   Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com
