Obituary of Irene D. Ort

Irene D. Ort (Atkinson), 98, of Gloversville, New York, passed away on November 29, 2020. Born in Johnstown, NY, Irene lived most of her life in Gloversville where she and her husband raised a son. She was active in the former First United Methodist Church, enjoyed babysitting, gardening, and was affiliated with the Rebekah Lodge. 

Irene had an infectious laugh, loved listening to Frank Sinatra, enjoyed family meals and gatherings, and was a kind woman with a good sense of humor. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Ort, Sr. and son, Harold A. Ort, Jr. Irene is survived by a daughter-in-law and granddaughter. 

She was grateful to have the love and caring support of the dedicated staff at Wells Nursing Home, where she ultimately left to be with the Lord.   

Due to Covid-19, a private service will take place at the convenience of the family at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.   

Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
