Obituary of Betty Angela Moane

Mrs. Betty Angela Moane, 89, of Fort Plain, NY died peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 8, 2020.  Born on July 4, 1931 in Utica, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles D. Beno and Angelina Giacovelli Beno, moving to Johnstown, NY in 1934.  She graduated in 1949 from Johnstown High School and worked for a year as a telephone operator.

Betty then attended New England Conservatory in Boston, MA and later transferred her studies to New York City.  She sang professionally for several years until her marriage, when she loved to Fort Plain in 1964.  She worked for Beech- Nut from 1964 to early her early retirement in 1986, having worked in the corporate office briefly and then as secretary to the manager of quality control.

An avid naturalist and environmentalist, Betty loved nature, the seasons and the animals.  She enjoyed gardening and listening to all types of music.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

On December 19, 1959 she was united in marriage to Francis E. Moane.  That union lasted only a short 19 years, until his untimely passing on August 25, 1978.  She was also predeceased by her brothers, Philp, Peter, Joseph and her sister Toni.

Survivors include her adopted daughter, Sandy; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 11:30a.m. at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding.  Calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10:30a.m. at the funeral home.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  Burial will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Utica, NY.  Masks and social distancing protocols are required for services.
