Obituary of James A. Sitterly Jr.
James Andrew Sitterly Jr. son of the late James Andrew Sitterly Sr; and Dorothy May Ahnert and husband of Delia J. Santiago Sitterly of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed from this earth on Monday, October 26, 2020.
James is survived by his children Jason C. (Samantha) Sitterly of NC; Jarrod J. (Tonja) Sitterly of Broadalbin, and Alicia (Jairo) Mercado of NC; his siblings Andrew (Caroline) Sittery of TX; Jean (Ron) Kleba of VA; Mary (Tom) Cappadona of FL; Virginia (Raymond) Judd of Schenectady, NY. Survived also by his daughter in law Julie Sitterly of Northville, NY, and by his grandchildren whom he adored James Rudy Sitterly, Gabrielle Sitterly, Tyler Sitterly, Jacob Sitterly, Joshua Sitterly, Dylan Russell, Jaeleigh Mercado, Kayleigh Mercado, and Hayleigh Mercado. Besides his parents James is also predeceased by two sons James Rudy Sitterly, and Justin Howard Sitterly.
Jim was born on March 29, 1947 in Amsterdam, NY. He lived in Broadalbin, NY until 1993 when work took him to North Carolina. He was a 1965 graduate of Perth Central School in Perth, NY. After High School, he enlisted for four years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran decorated for bravery under fire. He was currently working for Fab Industries Corp. as a vice president where he has worked since 1980. He’s a life member of the Jeb Seagle post of the Marine Corps league Lincolnton, North Carolina, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Vietnam Veterans America Lincolnton North Carolina Post.
Jim loved restoring old vehicles, fishing in his later years with his grandson Dylan and traveling with his Grand Children.
Interment will be lived streamed and is scheduled to take place Tuesday November 10, 2020 at 1 pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 39 E Main Street, Fort Johnson, NY 12070.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing and follow the NYS Guidelines for COVID19.
