Obituary of David J. Mattas

David John Mattas, 84, of Amsterdam, New York passed away peacefully at Cobleskill Regional Hospital. David was born on May 4, 1935 to the late John and Stella Mattas in Amsterdam, New York. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret “Peggy” Birch on December 20, 1955. A proud Veteran, David served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1958.

David is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his three sons, David, Christopher (Rose), and Randy (Kathy);his God daughter, Stephanie Bellinger; his grandchildren, Lynn (Jeff) Parker, Christopher Mattas, Matt, Rebecca, Amanda, and Nicholas; his great-grandchildren, William Mattas, Cheyann, Jeffery, and Carson Parker; his great-great-grandchildren, Zander, Zena, Jayden, Caleb, and Levi, with one more on the way; his brothers, John and Jerry; his grand-dogs, Muffin and Terry; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, October 22 from 4 o’clock until 6 o’clock in the evening at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam, NY 12010. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23, at 1:30 in the afternoon at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
