Obituary of Felix Robert Pawlak

     Felix R. Pawlak, 83, of Stairs Rd., Town of Perth, NY, passed away on Saturday September 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 4, 1937 a son of the late Felix R. and Rose S. Kosik Pawlak Sr. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1955 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

     Mr. Pawlak served in the US Airforce from 1955 to 1959. He later started his career for the former Mohasco Corp in Amsterdam. He last was employed as a Machinist for Greno Industries in Scotia, NY. Felix was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He also was an avid bowler for many years in various leagues in the area.

      Felix enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He taught Christian from an early age how to take care of a home. Whether it be learning how to cut the lawn, change a tire, or chop down a tree: Grandpa was there every step of the way. He taught Zachary everything he knew about fishing…even how to filet the fish.

He married Jacqueline Hayes on September 9, 1961. She passed away on August 30, 2012.

     Survivors include his two beloved daughters, Marie (Tom) Apholz of Amsterdam, NY and Gail Peterkin also of Amsterdam. Four grandchildren, Zachary and Brody Apholz, Christian Hines and Sean Peterkin. A dear sister, Mary Ann Bogdan of Amsterdam. Nieces and Nephews, John (Cindy)Bogdan of Amsterdam, Cheryl Bogdan of Washington, D.C. and Dr. Dawn Bogdan (Christopher Watson) of CT. Funeral

     Services and Military Honors are private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
