Obituary of Irene H. Maxwell

Mrs. Irene H. Maxwell, 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 following a brief illness.  Born on August 13, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Julia Gedraitis Rackauskas.

Irene graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in 1957 as Salutatorian.  In 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert C. Maxwell. Together for nearly 59 years, they lived a wonderful life together, living in Hawaii, California, and New York. Irene graduated from Cum Laude from Honolulu Business College.  She had an extensive career working her entire life and retired as a training officer for the Federal Government with the United States Navy.

Following retirement in 2000, Irene and Bob moved back to Upstate, New York.  During their lifetime, they dedicated their lives to helping others and improving the quality of life in the communities they lived in. In 2017, Bob passed away and Irene continued to make new friends and enjoy life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  

She is survived by her son, Robert H. Maxwell and his wife Julia of Amsterdam, NY; cousins and friends.

A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11a.m. at St. Casimir’s Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Public Broadcasting www.wmht.org or Heart of the Nation www.heartofthenation.org
