Obituary of Matthew Traskos

Mr. Matthew J. Traskos, 91, formerly of Hagaman, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Florida. 

Born in Amsterdam on October 19, 1928 a son of the late Paul and Mary Trzaskos and lived the majority of his life in the Amsterdam Area. 

Mr. Traskos served in the Army after graduating from the Amsterdam High School and became a meat cutter after leaving military service.  He worked for a number of local markets until finishing his career with Price Chopper Markets in Amsterdam.  He and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling around the country.  They made four cross country journeys with their camper to visit family in Alaska, taking in the national parks along the way.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty (Hess) whom he married on August 13, 1950.  He was also predeceased by five sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include his four children, Richard Traskos and his wife Kathy (Cookie) of New Port Richey, FL, Charles Traskos of Amsterdam, Marilyn Case and her husband Dan of Fairbanks, AK and Thomas Traskos and his wife Shauna of Broadalbin; two brothers, Bob Trzaskos and his wife Stacia of Amsterdam and Paul Trzaskos and his wife Linda of Venice, FL; along with five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at the Hagaman Mills Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Hagaman Mills Cemetery Association c/o Mike Morrow, P.O. Box 895, Broadalbin, NY 12025.
