Obituary of Kazuko Guy
Kazuko Takeda Guy age 85 of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 19th, 2020 at home with her family by her side.
She was born November 6, 1934 in Okinawa, Japan, the daughter of Kame and Kame Tabata Takeda. She married in 1954 and came to the United States in 1958. After living in the US for 32 years she went back to visit to her loving family of Okinawa. She was able to see her Mother, Loving Niece Yoko Urasaki, and son Takashi, along with many other family members that always kept her in their thoughts, and prayers.
Kazuko was a prime example of of a "Tiny Warrier" coming to the United States into a strange culture and language, she overcame many obstacles with her determination and strength of character. She was a strong loving single mother.
Through the years Kazuko softly touched many lives and is remembered fondly by many. She attended the Day Health program at Wells House in Johnstown, NY for 12 years, until it was closed due to the pandemic. She very much missed the Day program and the beautiful friends she had there. Especially the very caring staff with special a closeness to Liz Brown a close confidant to Kazuko and her family.
Kazuko was a cancer survivor at the age of 80, with special thanks to the caring staff at Dana Farber in Boston, Ma.
Kazuko was predeceased by her parents, older sister Turuko and brother Kame Suki all of Okinawa Japan.
She is survived by her five children, Takashi Takada (Fukiko) of Okinawa Japan, Frank G. Guy (Suzanne) of Gloversville, NY, William Guy (Jennifer) of Paduka, Kentucky, Margaret Coolidge of Gloversville, NY and Kimberley Guy (Jeff) of Rotterdam, NY; seven grandchildren, Jessica Guy (Matthew) of Florida, Jason Sweet (Martha) of Gloversville, William Sweet (Marisa) of East Berne, NY, William Guy (Nicole) of Tennessee, Christopher Guy of Kentucky, Hirona Shimabukuro of Okinawa Japan and Alysha Chamberlain (John) of Gloversville, NY; eight great-grandchildren, Skylar Guy of Tennessee, Frank Sweet of Colorado, Landree Gifford of Florida, Jayce Guy of Kentucky, Brynn Ella Gifford of Florida, Lian Guy of Kentucky, Emerson Guy of Kentucky and the very newest little member Arya Sweet of East Berne, NY.
A special shout out to her loving niece and caregiver Nancy Ropeter. "Peaches" always brightened up when she saw you! Many thanks!
Our little warrior will be sadly missed by all!
The family has planned an outside Memorial get together to Celebrate her life, on September 12th, 2020, starting at 2 pm at 197 G Burdick Road, Gloversville, NY. We welcome friends and family that knew Kazuko to please stop by and join us in the celebration.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Dana Farber Center in Boston, MA.
