Obituary of Douglas C. Lindsey
Mr. Douglas C. Lindsey, age 88, of Gloversville, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.
He was born November 17, 1931 in Luzerne, NY, the son of the late Henry and Grace Carlton Lindsey. He attended Corinth schools and later served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954.
Doug was employed by Colonial Tanning of Gloversville for many years and later worked at Walmart. He was a Life Member of the Broadalbin VFW Post. He loved softball and organized adult softball leagues. He enjoyed traveling and casino trips and was a pet-minded person, owning a Miniature Dachshund.
He is survived by two children, Carol Malik (Art Dyer) of Gloversville and Douglas A. Lindsey (Marion Renzulli) of Lake Grove; four grandchildren, Brian Lindsey, Travis Malik, Mitchell Lindsey and Connor Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Cole Lindsey and Peyton Lindsey; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Rockwell Lindsey; seven siblings, Bernard, Thomas, Howard and Harold Lindsey, Marion Diehl, Betty Guilder and Barbara LaClair.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:30 to 5:30pm Wednesday, August 5th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a Memorial Service will follow at 5:30pm. Facial covering and social distancing will be required.
Interment with Military Honors will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
