Obituary of Ernestina Camacho

     Ernestina (Tina) Camacho, 91, of Amsterdam, NY entered eternal light on July 13, 2020 in her home with her husband, Aldelmo Camacho, of 72 years by her side. Born on March 13, 1929 in Yauco, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of Juanita & Anastasio Perez. Tina her husband Al and their two daughters moved to Amsterdam, NY in February of 1951. During her years of employment she was a talented seamstress at a local factory. She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Amsterdam. She was also a communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Church, East Main St. Amsterdam.

     She took pride in being an Amsterdam Resident and participated on many community wide committees. She was also actively involved with local Hispanic organization, including the Spanish American Club, Amsterdam Hispanic Senior Citizens (President), Montgomery County Office for the Aging (Advisory Board).

     In addition to her husband, she is survived by their two daughters Ida (Paul) Slansky (Ft Hunter, NY) & Lillian (Carlos) Murillo (Charlotte, NC). 8 Grandchildren: Doug (Amy) Murillo of Parma Heights, OH; Chris (Kelly) Araya of Waxhaw, NC; Kevin Murillo of Orlando, FL; Mike (Carrie) Araya of Tribes Hill, NY; Becky Murillo of Charlotte, NC; and Robert (Jonathan) Camacho  of Fort Hunter, NY, Patty (Dave) Bedell, Paul (Laura) Slansky. Great Grandchildren Patrick, Jordan, Mitchell, Austin, Jillian, Lauren, Haile, Derek, Daniel (Jonelle), Brandon (Casey), Brian (Tammy) Katlynn (Catherine) and Great Great Grandchild, Mauve, Alexis, Cali, and Paxton.  Also surviving, Feliz (Nelida) Perez and Manuel (Nilda) Perez of Puerto Rico.  

     She was predeceased by her grandson Henry Araya, granddaughter, Cindy Murillo, and grandson Richie Carpenter.  She was also predeceased by her siblings, Adelida, Antonia, Efrain, Ramonita, and Roberto all of Puerto Rico.

     A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 16, 2020 at 1:30PM at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey M.
