Obituary of Frances Sammarco

Frances "Fran" Sammarco passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2020 at the age of 97 with her beloved nephew, John Sammarco by her side.

 

She was born in New York City, NY on October 8, 1922 to parents Giuseppe and Vincenza (Paciolla) Sammarco.

 

Fran attended Gloversville schools and worked her entire career as a glove seamstress for the Grandoe Glove Company until her retirement.

 

Everyone who was fortunate enough to know Fran loved her dearly for her sincere and loving ways. Her love for family and friends was immeasurable and flowed generously for her entire life. Younger generations fondly knew her as "Aunt Fran" whether related or not, and she treated them all like family.

 

Fran loved the simple things in life, a cup of coffee with a friend, a surprise visit or a phone call from a distant friend or relative. She was incredible in the kitchen and happily shared her talent for Italian cooking and baking with everyone. Her secret ingredient was love. She did so much for so many people and never expected anything in return. Loved and appreciated by her family members, she never knew the full impact that she made on their lives. Fran was an angel in disguise and people who knew her felt blessed.

 

Fran is predeceased by her loving parents Giuseppe (Joe) and Vincenza, brother Leo, sisters Emily (Tony) Zambri of Herkimer, NY and Lucy (Jim) Armstrong of Gloversville, NY and many lifelong dear friends.

 

Fran is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother Ralph Sammarco of Gloversville and several generations of loving nieces and nephews.

 

In keeping with Fran's wishes, all arrangements will remain private and at the convenience of the family with interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
