Obituary of Doris Rose Hallenbeck
Doris Rose Jasper Hallenbeck, 87, of Gay Lane, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 with her loving family by her side.
She was born February 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Tarmey Jasper and Walter Jasper of Amsterdam. A lifelong area resident, she attended and graduated from St. Mary's school in 1951, and the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce Secretarial School. Doris was then employed by GE in Schenectady where she met Gordon “Gordy” Hallenbeck who worked as a Draftsman in the Large Motor Department.
Doris and Gordy were united in Holy Matrimony on August 30, 1953 and Doris began her life as a homemaker; dedicating her time to being a loving wife and devoted mother to four children.
In her younger years she was a member of the Junior Century Club, and was an avid reader. Doris enjoyed entertaining family for holidays and special occasions. Later she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching T.V. and going out to dinner with her friends and family.
In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Gordon Hallenbeck, as well as their son Robert Hallenbeck, sister Norma (Ken) Hamilton, brothers Walter Jasper and Charles Jasper.
She is survived by her daughters; Susan (Chuck) Rossi of Amsterdam, Lynn (Chris) Baker, of Greenfield Ctr, and Carol (Steve Cowles) Hallenbeck of Amsterdam. Her grandchildren; Nicholas (Gwen) Rossi, of Amsterdam, Philip Hallenbeck of Tokyo, Japan, and Kacie Levoy, of Amsterdam, great grandchildren; Santino "Sonny" Rossi, and Emma Grace Podrazik, both of Amsterdam, daughter-in-law Marjorie Hallenbeck of Johnstown, sister-in-law Arlene Jasper of Amsterdam, as well as step-grandchildren; Andrew and Leanna Baker, Jared and Theodore Marcais, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private Service of Remembrance has been scheduled for Friday June 26, 2020 at 2:00pm at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Jeffrey L'Arche officiating. A private viewing will take place from 1:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery following services.
