Obituary of Deborah Alvarez

Deborah Alvarez, 71, of Gloversville, NY died peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam.  Born on December 22, 1948 she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Beverly Brown Verkleir.

 

A lifelong area resident, Deb was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and Mildred Elly Business School.  She was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and had a passion for gardening, quilting and cooking.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

She was predeceased by her brother.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Lori Alvarez of Perth, NY and Amy Hutzel and her husband Shannon of Glenville, NY; her son, Jason Alvarez of Mayfield and W. Springfield, MA; her grandchildren, Brandy (Anthony) Cozzolino, Karly (Tyler) Zepf, Tiffany (Douglas) Guisti, Shawn Boles, Kayla Taylor and Chloe Alvarez, Kaitlyn (Josiah) Phillips; great grandchildren, Norah Morehouse, Isabella Cozzolino, Amelia Cozzolino and Douglas Guisti; her dog buddy; three sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

 At Deborah’s request, there are no services.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078 or the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin, 54 W. Main Street, Broadalbin, NY 12025.
