Obituary of Madeline Telfer Susi

     Gold Star mother Madeline Telfer Susi, 95, entered eternal rest on Friday June 5, 2020 at her home in Gloversville NY with loving family by her side.

       Madeline, and her twin sister,  Marilyn Rice (d 2000), was born on May 4, 1925 in Gloversville to the late Herman and Harriet Fosmire Stuart. She attended Johnstown schools and worked as a glove maker until she joined Beech-Nut Foods in Canajoharie for 22 happy years.

          She loved family, her cats, God and country and was a true American patriot. She was devoted to her church, the former Saving Grace Baptist Church in Fonda.

         Madeline was preceded in death by husband Linus Telfer (m 1941 d 1980), husband Alfred Susi (m 1983 d 2004), son Sgt. Robert Telfer USMC

 (KIA Vietnam 1966), son Bill Telfer (d 2004), grandson David Melton (d 2018) and nine siblings.

         She is survived by daughters Nancy Telfer of Gloversville, Janice Telfer (Harold) Melton of Jacksonville NC, son James (Jean) of Ephratah, daughter-in-law Susan (Brown) Telfer of St Johnsville,  brother  Richard “Earl” (Rose) Stewart of Gloversville, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

           Madeline was an amazing, hard-working and down-to-earth woman who loved life and family. She will be missed but not forgotten.

      Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak, funeral services are private and will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY.    Arrangements are under the direction of the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY 12072.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shirley J. Luck Senior Center, 109 E.
