Obituary of Joseph E. Colabello

     Mr. Joseph E. Colabello, 68, of Ft. Johnson, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning May 18, 2020  at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. 

    Born in Amsterdam, NY  on June 5, 1951 a son of the late Joseph and Violet DeMaria Colabello.  He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools.  

     Joe worked for over 35 years as a Heavy Equipment operator for GE in Schenectady, NY.  He enjoyed being outdoors and was always in the garage working on Motorcycles, snowmobiles and his truck.  He loved traveling with his family especially to the south.  He was a social butterfly who could strike up a conversation with anyone.

     He is survived by his wife Sheila Kalinsky Colabello whom he married on June 21, 1975.  In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Joseph E. Colabello Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Illinois, Tiffanie McDonald and her husband Tim Jr. of Broadalbin, NY and Adrian Leigh Colabello and his fiancé Jacqueline Ross of Saratoga, NY. One brother, Frank (Irene) Colabello of Tribes Hill, NY and three sisters, Judy (Gary) Baker Barkevich of Amsterdam, Rena Mesick of Fultonville,  and Kelly Mammarelli of Florida.  His cherished grandchildren,  Emily (Wayne Armour) VanWormer and Thomas McDonald.  One great- granddaughter, Olivia Armour.  Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

     Joseph was predeceased by a sister Joan (Butch) Gradert. 

    Due to the Covid-19 Outbreak, funeral services are private. Cremation will take place at Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady, NY.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
