I was so sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. He was a great guy, with a smile that lit up a room. I remember him during our high school years as being a great athlete and all-around nice guy. My family, including my dad whom Jeff served under, respected his professionalism, dedication to the citizens of Montgomery County, and his friendship. God bless his soul and his family that grieves his passing. With sympathy, Jamie Emery March, Glendale, California

I was so sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. He was a special person. I still remember him having his head shaved when a fellow co worker at the county building started losing her hair during chemo treatments. I'm sure he has earned himself a special place in heaven...Debra (Rickard) Marshall

I am saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. Condolences to the entire VanAlstyne family.
I will always remember Jeff as a youth growing up in Fultonville, attending FFCS and spending countless hours at sports practices and games together.
We drifted apart over the years but I still consider Jeff a life long friend.
So sorry we didn't reconnect as we neared retirement..could have re-told some great stories from the 1970's.
RIP Jeff, you are not forgotten.

Still in shock that I am sitting here typing out a condolence for of all people, Jeff.
Knowing Jeff since I was a little brat kid and then having the honor of working with him are memories I will cherish forever - the good and the bad. His sense of humor provided many laughs which made the tough times of that job tolerable. His dedication to the department and the public was unwavering. He was the type of cop that you always knew had your back and who always wanted to be the first one through the door. He lived a life of honor. Great man, great dad, great friend, great cop.
Rest in peace brother. See you on the other side.
Joel
