Obituary of Mary Ellen Lewek

 Mary Ellen Lewek, 83, of Tribes Hill, NY, passed away Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the E. L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in the Town of Root, NY on May 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George and Madeline Ostrander. Mary Ellen shared over 50 years of happiness with “significant other”, Marcus C. Kruger, 97, who passed last year on July 11. She has two sons named Daniel and John; along with one grandson, John Jr. (that she calls Junior).

Mary Ellen worked as a directory assistance operator for Verizon in Amsterdam until her retirement in 1994. She continued to keep busy by volunteering her time to the Montgomery County Office for the Aging in Amsterdam.

When not working, Mary Ellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing the weekly TV Guide crossword puzzle, gardening, watching TV, attending social events and spoiling her pets. She was especially proud when her grandson was brought into her life.

Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Interment is St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY.   Arrangements are under the direction of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
