Obituary of Gene Hugh Dingman
Mr. Gene Hugh Dingman, age 90, of Gloversville, passed away on Saturday March 28, 2020 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family and dog Rocket by his side.
Gene was born April 29, 1929 in Gloversville to Ethel Blowers. During his High School years, he was an avid Soccer and Basketball Star at Mayfield. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the US Military and honored his country by serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He proudly served his country from 1948 - 1951 where he had many jumps. After his honorable discharge he was later employed by the US Army Watervliet Arsenal for many years.
He married his love Joyce Rorick on February 21, 1953 and together they had 7 children between the years of 1953 and 1970. He retired from the Aresenal in 1993. Gene always had an on the go disposition so retirement did not last long. He filled his time delivering Meals on Wheels and taking his beloved Basset Hounds on long drives.
There were many things Gene loved such as Elvis Presley, Basset Hounds and his family and friends. Not only was he a proud father he was also a grandfather and great-grandfather, this brought him great joy.
Gene was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 1996.
Gene is survived by his seven children: Gene Dingman (Lucas), Debra Simonds (Kirk), Larry Dingman (Kimberly), Connie Rote (Charles), Brenda Dingman (Steve), Rose Clute (John) and Mark Dingman (Becky); his 8 grandchildren: Jamie and Eric Simonds, Darron Dingman, Charlie Rote, Amanda Dingman, Sean Goerges, Alex Dingman and Charlie DeVoe; 8 great-grandchildren: Katherine and Elizabeth Simonds, Madden and Reagan Bowie, Arianna and Kaya Rote, Dalton and Ivan Dingman; along with several other extended family members and friends especially Harry Barker and Ronald and Cheryl Brothers.

Services will be private to his immediate family, a celebration of life will take place at a date and time to be determined.
Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James Brenan Humane Society.
