Obituary of Betty A. Tretola
Betty A. Tretola, age 96, of Gloversville, joined her family and friends in heaven on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville.
She was born February 12, 1924 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Eurben and Ruth Oathout Ward. She worked at Decca Record Company which became MCA Record Company, from which she retired in 1989 following 34 years of service. Betty went on to enjoy 26 years of a lovely retirement, traveling with girlfriends, spending the winters in Florida with her daughter and spending time with her favorite companion, Razell. She had a passion for playing BINGO which was only exceeded by her passion for cooking and baking.
Betty was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church in Gloversville, the Ida McGinness Senior Citizens and the 55Plus Senior Citizens. She was Tenant Commissioner for Gloversville Housing Authority and President of Kingsboro Towers Tennant’s Association for several terms.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Tretola, as well nieces and nephews Christopher Ward (Sandra), William Jeffrey Ward (Sherrill), Shelly Hinkle (Alan), Michael Ward, Misty Ward and David Ward (Jeanette). Cousins surviving are Betty Jane Burek, Leo Unger and Joan Thompson.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers William F. Ward and Robert J. Ward.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 to 2pm Sunday, March 15 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 2pm with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating.
Interment will take place 10:30am Monday at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
