Obituary of Alena Winney
Ms. Alena Winney, 41, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at her home in Amsterdam.
She was born on May 31, 1978 in Gloversville, NY to Nita Prahm and Paul Winney. Alena is survived by her lifelong partner and fiancé Gregory Insogna, beloved daughter Ella Insogna, mother Nita (Fred) Prahm, father Paul (Cheryl) Winney, sisters Josie Prahm, and Angela (Micah) Smith, Brother Adam Winney, and grandmother Ethel Winney as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Owen and Ruth Wood, and paternal grandfather John “Jack” Winney.
A lifelong area resident Alena attended local schools graduating from Gloversville High School in the class of 1996. She went on to enlist in the US Marine Corps serving her nation faithfullyfrom 2000 to 2002. Following her service Alena went on to get her Associate’s Degree in Accounting. In the past Alena worked as a waitress at several restaurants, and most recently operated a cleaning business serving many clients throughout the local area.
Alena loved the summer and times spent at the lake or by the pool, she enjoyed the simple things in life and more than anything loved her daughter Ella who was her whole world.
She will be remembered for her heart of gold.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 6:00pm at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Friends and family are invited and may call on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 6:00pm prior to the service.
