Patricia Terranova

Obituary of Patricia I. Terranova

Mrs. Patricia I. Terranova, age 74, of Perth, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.

She was born August 13, 1945 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth LaPorta Ault. She was employed as an Aerobics Instructor at Perth Fitness during the 80’s through the 90’s bringing her passion and abundant energy to members from the surrounding community with the flare only she was capable of as an avid advocate of staying physically fit and living a healthy lifestyle. A lifestyle she maintained right up until the day she was hospitalized; starting her day by doing her rebounder. In more recent years, she helped several people in the community by helping them with their activities of daily living while developing a mutually beneficial bond with them and their families. In everything she did, she did it with her whole heart and soul.  She was a woman of faith belonging to Perth Bible Church and attending several churches in the community where she made fast friends with everyone with whom she came into contact with. Known for her beautiful smile and vivacious, infectious laugh, she was the friend everyone wished they had. She put everyone else ahead of herself and always shared the good news of John 3:16; seeing beyond the here and now, wanting every soul to share her same peace in knowing our Lord and Savior.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Phillip Terranova, of Perth and a daughter, Sherry Terranova, of Albany. She married Phillip, her high school sweetheart, in 1963 and they would’ve celebrated their 57th year of marriage later this year in October. She was her daughter’s biggest fan and supporter; always providing unconditional love and support. She is survived by her sisters, Madeline Cain (Manchester, CT), Geraldine Watson (Amsterdam, NY), Rebecca Ault Martinez (Wyoming) and brother, John Ault (Alice; Altamont, NY). She is also survived by several beautiful nieces and one nephew.

She loved everything Italian and was a culinary aficionado. She was a master at baking pies that would make your taste buds dance with glee. She loved the smell of lilacs and lilies in the springtime. Sunshine on her face in the summertime. The beauty of all that is autumn. And, the first snowfall of winter. The void of her presence is falling heavy on our hearts. However, we find peace knowing she is home now with her Maker and without pain.

The family would like to express our sincerest appreciation of all the kindness bestowed upon us from friends, family and church members who have been supportive and prayed for our peace at this time. We’d also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation the MDs, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, NY and at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville, NY.

Cremation will take place at Parkview Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady.
