Obituary of Elaine K. Crouse

Elaine K. Crouse, 68, of Eagle Street, Amsterdam died peacefully on February 27, 2020.  Born in Bennington, VT she was the daughter of the late John and Shirley Cleveland Batease.

A lifelong area resident, Elaine was employed as a bartender at Canali’s Restaurant for a few years before becoming a homemaker.  She enjoyed being a mother and a grandmother.  She also enjoyed crafts, baking, cooking and listening to Elvis.  Elaine also enjoyed attending the Wilkinson Day Program.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her two husbands, James L. Crouse and Elmer Canastra Sr.

Survivors include three children James L. Crouse Jr., Jason Canastra and Kimberly Canastra; several grandchildren including Brandon Atwood, whom she helped care for; eight siblings, Jenny Lasher, Eleanor Follett, George (Janet) Batease, Raymond (Marlene) Batease, Susan Braender, John (Robin) Batease, Tammy Hume (Bill Bottisti); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.  A calling period will take place prior to the service beginning at 12:30p.m. at the funeral home.  All are invited to attend.  Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
